Build understanding
We explore the issue from multiple perspectives, map the system in which change needs to happen and bring people together to define the problem.
We help funders, institutions and communities to collectively design services, strategies, funds, and to shape research. By bringing the right people into the room – especially people often missing from decision-making – we shape change together.
We often act as a bridge between organisational strategy and community lived experiences, working to help both recognise the power they hold and how they can share it. Rather than attempting to “do everything at once”, we focus on starting well, using our unique four-step approach. Co-production becomes not a one-off exercise, but part of how change happens.
We explore the issue from multiple perspectives, map the system in which change needs to happen and bring people together to define the problem.
Valuing lived expertise and challenging power dynamics, we create safe, inclusive and trauma-informed spaces for people to co-develop solutions together.
We support partners to build a learning mindset and invest in the relationships and conditions so the work continues beyond the life of the project.

Who we are designing for – We push for inclusive design, creating space for people who are underrepresented or subjected to marginalisation.
Who are we designing with – We don’t take people’s insights and lock ourselves away to design a solution. We believe that for true ownership, people closest to the issues must be part of each step from the start, and have a say in how their experience is interpreted.
How we are designing – We use tried and tested human-centred methodologies, equitable, and trauma-informed approaches to research and social innovation.
Designing in systems – We consider the systems in which we operate, and ensure that any solution addresses power, purpose, relationships or decision-making.
