Place-based systems change

Place-based systems change

Your place-based systems change work is addressing complex social issues. We’re here to help you understand the change you’re making.

Evaluation and learning adapted to the interconnected nature of social change

We’ve seen many attempts to assess the impact of place-based systems change programmes using traditional evaluation methods. But these methods often fail to capture the impact as it is experienced by communities, and the nuances of this impact over time. Our approaches aim to address these challenges

Look at the whole journey

Understanding cause and effect is crucial for any process of change. We help you understand the starting point, the process, and the change.

Balancing rigour and critical learning

We combine developmental and realist approaches such as contribution analysis to assess the causal links between a programme and the outcomes.

Designed to capture emerging change

Enabling you to demonstrate both micro and macro level change while incorporating learning to support it in real time.

Pride in Place: How we can help

As a welcome renewed government focus on place, Pride in Place offers a real opportunity to improve people’s local areas. With over 30 years of experience of working alongside communities and in places across the UK, we know what it takes to do it right. We can help you deliver Pride in Place in your local area, and can work with you to tailor our services to your needs.

Our approach centers people’s lived experience, and is designed to involve those traditionally excluded from decision-making processes to ensure their voices are heard. We take the time to build trust and invest in the relationships that build the conditions for lasting change. We can support you to co-design and co-produce governance structures like Neighbourhood Boards, help you disseminate funding to grassroots initiatives and communities on a hyperlocal level through our fiscal hosting service, and support you in understanding what does and doesn’t work to make sure you can make the most of Pride in Place.

Building on over 30 years of experience in place
